Overstock is an online retailer that originally sold the remaining products of other sellers, but now also sells new products.
All about Overstock
Overstock, or overstock.com, is an online store that sells household items, including furniture, bedding, decorations and more, for every room in your home. The original idea was to sell overstock products in other stores, or items that were returned, so that they could offer their buyers particularly low prices. Today, they also have products that are made especially for them – but always at low prices.
Often you can get even lower prices for products from Overstock (check out all the offers we have here in the shop!) You can also sign up for their newsletter to receive the latest vouchers from Overstock. And don’t forget to visit the “Flash Deals” and “Clearance & Closeouts” sections of their website, both of which are great places to find the lowest prices.
The Overstock Story
Overstock.com was founded in 1997 by Patrick M. Byrne, although he did not launch the company until May 1999. They began offering online auctions in their marketplace in 2004, although they stopped offering online auctions in mid-2011.
Initially, the company only grew through word of mouth from satisfied customers. They also started making TV commercials and employed a number of speakers.
In 2014, they became the first major retailer to choose to accept coin payments, and from the first day they were able to do so, they recorded a 4.33% increase in sales.
Overstock celebrates its 16th anniversary with 16 fun facts about the company
Overstock.com did something special to celebrate its sixteenth anniversary as a company: they shared “16 Good Things About Overstock.com”. Officially, they abolished the “Overstockober” party and rewarded their customers with more savings and additional loyalty bonuses.
